whooping cough video


Whooping cough is an acute and contagious disease mainly affecting the children, due to infection of the mucous membranes lining the air passages by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis. The medical name of whooping cough is pertussis. Attacks of frequent, persistent, spasmodic coughing that ends in vomiting; noisy, convulsive, drawing in of the breath at the extreme of violent cough with a special inspiring sound called whoop or whooping inspiration.After an incubation period of 1-2 weeks, little catarrh, mild fever, coughing, loss of appetite, etc., gradually develop and persist for 1-2 weeks. Later, catarrhal stage is associated with symptoms similar to those of the common cold.
