appendix pain

Appendix pain or Appendicitis is the inflammation of the appendix vermiform. actually appendix, is having worm like structure and as such it is called as appendix vermiform. It is attached with the caecum, or cecum and has no function in the body, but when it is inflamed, due to some infection, it causes a trouble - appendicitis with following causes and symptoms. (Appendix is 5 to 7 c m. long when it is normal and 10- 15 c m. in length when it is inflamed with pencil size thickness).
Typhlitis inflammation of caecum-formerly called as typhlitis, and now it is recognised as appendicitis.

Symptoms The chief and common symptoms of appendicitis are : Abdominal pains first at the central abdomen and at the pit of stomach, later they turn into violent tearing, shooting pains at ileo-caecum region with tenderness, soreness in the right lower abdomen, over the appendix along with other symptoms like diarrhoea, vomiting, slight fever, gone fainting feeling at the pit of stomach, great wind in stomach, colon and bowels. In the beginning of its attack, the referred pains are felt at different sites of the abdomen due to disturbed position of the appendix vermiform -and may cause some difficulty in its diagnosis. In some cases, the pains may be felt at spleenic flexture of the abdomen, or in the whole of abdomen when the centre of trouble is at lower abdomen right side.At the final stage of appendicitis, the pain from the flexture of abdomen, or from pit of stomach are shifted and centred at ileo-caecum region, with its swelling, tenderness, soreness, hardness and swelling at the pit of stomach, 2-3 vomiting. At this stage the swelling of appendix vermiform extends to the tissues, surrounding the appendix - along ascending or transverse colon. When the swelling of appendix extends to its surrounding tissues, - then it was formerly called typhlitis and now an appendicitis.
